19 – 30th September 2018; I finally got the courage to do it. 10 days in noble silence and an intense meditation course called Dhamma Pataka – Vipasanna Meditation in Worcester, Western Cape. At first, this trip sounded like a holiday; a calm retreat, up a mountain in the Western Cape but after I saw the schedule (again), I realized this was a workcation for the soul. Something my soul needed and has been yearning for this whole year.
*SPOILER ALERT – This post is longer than usual and the photos are raw. Taken in a rush; before and after the course

One random day, myself and my girls sat during lunch and thought; when last did we play. As in, let our hair down and forget adulting. Then we thought; play = rides = theme park. Gold Reef City. The last time I went to Gold Reef City was in 2016; after a race, we got a complimentary entry so we made the best of it. It wasn’t fun though, hundreds of other runners got the complimentary entry so we spent more time queuing for rides more than being on the rides. We wanted to do this differently, I mean why live for weekends …

I’m fresh from a graduation ceremony, my sister attained her honors in Marketing and Management (yassss girl!) and I also graduated last year with my Diploma in Media Practices, majoring in Public Relations (had to throw that in). One thing I always find fascinating is the choice of outfits on this big day. Lately graduates have more freedom of expression. Most go all out; new shoes, new dress, hiring make-up artists. This day means a lot,so why the heck not.
Once upon a time graduation outfits were the equivalent of interview outfits. Besides the beautiful cultural wear we see at graduation …
Being the fashion enthusiast that I am, I always look forward to red carpets; that’s the show before the show. For me, the red carpet is the main show and what comes after is the added bonus. I can’t imagine life before Twitter because it is the quickest and easiest access to red carpet events around the world. Best of all, we all become a community qualified stylists. We sit at home in our pyjama’s and judge celebrities right? But what’s a red carpet anyway? Especially the South African red carpet.
The 13th of May was an important day for me. It proved what I already know; young women want to succeed but feel like they have no place in the media industry because it’s dominated male dominated. No one is reaching out but who owes them the opportunity? Are we proactive enough? Do we raise our hands for opportunities to find us?
I invited myself to be a speaker at the Kasie Radio Seminar on the 13th May. I say invited myself because I was initially asked to attend the event and I said I would only attend if I’m part of the …
Trends are always recycled from one era to the next. And if I’m from the baPedi tradition and I choose to use patterns and colors from my tribe in my collection and another designer does the same thing years later; is that plagiarism? Nothing is new in fashion, so can we have plagiarism in fashion? The answer is YES!
According to legalzoom.com; plagiarism is an illegal act that infringes an author’s (or designers) intellectual property rights, including copyright or trademark. The owner of a copyright can sue a plagiarizer in court for copyright violation. So if I am …
The last month or so has been uncomfortable for me.
Every inch of me has been yearning for a change. Change in scenery, change in thoughts, change in attitude, change in wardrobe. Heck, I was even yearning for a change in hairstyles. And after months of contemplating this, I woke up one day and thought today is the day.
I shaved off my beloved Afro.

I’ve been growing my natural hair for a year now and I’ve been attached to …
My partners birthday happens to be in February, the month of love. Three days after Valentine’s Day to be exact. I had to do a lot of fishing and low key asking about what he wanted. There were two things he wanted for his birthday; to meet his spirit animal, the lion, and a spa treatment. And so I found the perfect spot in Klerksdorp, North West. A game range lodge called the Bona Bona Game Reserve.
At first (without any research) I thought it would be an hour and a half away from Joburg, maximum two hours. It was 3 hours …
It’s graduation season and I’m blessed to be a part of it. Last year in June I was graduating and it felt good to be on the other side watching all the magic happen with my sister. Also, have you noticed how graduation ceremonies actually make you want to go back to school to. I can’t really describe the feeling of graduating (or even watching it) but it’s beautiful on both ends. I wish the media would show this in the news but that’s a topic for another day.
First of all; my new motto is “I would rather not sleep than to …
I’ve planned Coachella in my head for the longest. I feel like Beyonce even postponed last years appearance just for me, lol. I won’t be there this year but I am finally taking this seriously; I’m calculating how much it’ll cost to go to Coachella and I’m fixing my outfits so that when the year comes, I am ready!

What is Coachella
Before we get into the nitty grity of the price range; The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival …
