View PostBeing the fashion enthusiast that I am, I always look forward to red carpets; that’s the show before the show. For me, the red carpet is the main show and what comes after is the added bonus. I can’t imagine life before Twitter because it is the quickest and easiest access to red carpet events around the world. Best of all, we all become a community qualified stylists. We sit at home in our pyjama’s and judge celebrities right? But what’s a red carpet anyway? Especially the South African red carpet.
The 13th of May was an important day for me. It proved what I already know; young women want to succeed but feel like they have no place in the media industry because it’s dominated male dominated. No one is reaching out but who owes them the opportunity? Are we proactive enough? Do we raise our hands for opportunities to find us?
I invited myself to be a speaker at the Kasie Radio Seminar on the 13th May. I say invited myself because I was initially asked to attend the event and I said I would only attend if I’m part of the …
Trends are always recycled from one era to the next. And if I’m from the baPedi tradition and I choose to use patterns and colors from my tribe in my collection and another designer does the same thing years later; is that plagiarism? Nothing is new in fashion, so can we have plagiarism in fashion? The answer is YES!
According to legalzoom.com; plagiarism is an illegal act that infringes an author’s (or designers) intellectual property rights, including copyright or trademark. The owner of a copyright can sue a plagiarizer in court for copyright violation. So if I am …
The last month or so has been uncomfortable for me.
Every inch of me has been yearning for a change. Change in scenery, change in thoughts, change in attitude, change in wardrobe. Heck, I was even yearning for a change in hairstyles. And after months of contemplating this, I woke up one day and thought today is the day.
I shaved off my beloved Afro.

I’ve been growing my natural hair for a year now and I’ve been attached to …
My partners birthday happens to be in February, the month of love. Three days after Valentine’s Day to be exact. I had to do a lot of fishing and low key asking about what he wanted. There were two things he wanted for his birthday; to meet his spirit animal, the lion, and a spa treatment. And so I found the perfect spot in Klerksdorp, North West. A game range lodge called the Bona Bona Game Reserve.
At first (without any research) I thought it would be an hour and a half away from Joburg, maximum two hours. It was 3 hours …
It’s graduation season and I’m blessed to be a part of it. Last year in June I was graduating and it felt good to be on the other side watching all the magic happen with my sister. Also, have you noticed how graduation ceremonies actually make you want to go back to school to. I can’t really describe the feeling of graduating (or even watching it) but it’s beautiful on both ends. I wish the media would show this in the news but that’s a topic for another day.
First of all; my new motto is “I would rather not sleep than to …
I’ve planned Coachella in my head for the longest. I feel like Beyonce even postponed last years appearance just for me, lol. I won’t be there this year but I am finally taking this seriously; I’m calculating how much it’ll cost to go to Coachella and I’m fixing my outfits so that when the year comes, I am ready!

What is Coachella
Before we get into the nitty grity of the price range; The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival …
I’m literally craving a holiday or something to disrupt my daily routine. Something pleasant and juicy, like a holiday. Next to the beach, a walk away from utilities and a dark chocolate man to feed me all sorts of yummies. All of the above remind me of my latest holiday which took place in November 2017. An unplanned road trip with the love of my life and a bunch of friends to Durban Bluff.
The time away from work pressures and deadlines did a lot for my soul and my creativity. Around the time, there was a lot happening all at once and it …
I’m currently loving my mothers old skool wardrobe. I’m fascinated with the quality and the trends they adorned back in the day. Funny enough their trends are always recycled. I used to say I would never wear shoulder pads and that was true and valid until I came across items in her closet that I feel in love with. And as the saying goes by one of my favourites; “Never say never in fashion, because you’ll be wearing ‘never’ in two years’ time,” Alexa Chung.
There’s actually nothing not to love in my mom’s wardrobe. The jackets, the dresses, the …
On the 7th of February we woke up to an article by Vulture.com where Quincy tells all. Well almost everything. The interview is a conversation between David Marchese and Quincy Jones, Quincy talks about his life and his strong opinions on different topics including Micheal Jackson’s insecurities with his skin colour and the hip hop industry as we know it today. The QuincyJones interview was trending for two full days and from the whole article this line stood out for me;
“God walks out of the room when you’re thinking about money…”
That line hit hard!
I got it. Don’t get …
