DSTV Delicious Festival 2025

The Delicious Festival was this past weekend. This year I opted to go on Sunday and yes, Lauryn Hill was my main drawcard. I went in with cautious optimism, and let’s just say my expectations and reality didn’t exactly hold hands.

The Food

First things first: the food. Or should I say, the lack of it (for me, anyway). The Delicious Fest is an international food and music festival; the food is meant to be half the experience, but as usual, vegetarian options were few and far between. The only stall I spotted was a tofu stand. Otherwise, the meat lovers had a …

Life Lately… Happy, Hurt, and Healing

Hey love…It’s been a while. Life has been lifing, and it required me to be still. So still, that even writing felt too loud.

But here I am, slowly returning to myself, piece by piece. Here’s a little update on life lately. Where do I even begin?

Hurt…

So there I was, looking forward to the June 16 long weekend. Nothing fancy was planned; I just needed rest, a moment to catch my breath. Little did I know, I was rushing toward the day my beloved grandmother would take her last breath. Two months later, it still feels unreal. The occurrences of June 16 are still …

Red Bull Symphonic – Kelvin Momo

On the 6th of June, something extraordinary happened at Monte Casino. It wasn’t your usual Amapiano party, nor was it a typical night at the theatre. It was a beautiful, bold experiment: The Redbull Symphonic with Kelvin Momo in collaboration with the Egoli Orchestra — a live orchestral interpretation of Momo’s signature sound, with a live orchestra.

From the moment we stepped into the venue, it was clear that this was going to be a different kind of night. The stage was dressed for something grand: string sections, brass instruments, and a sea of microphones stood alongside DJ decks and keyboards. Amapiano was about to trade the dancefloor …

Soulaced Sessions: A Night for the Grown & Sexy

This past May, I had the absolute pleasure of attending Soulaced Sessions with Louie Vega — and let me tell you, it was everything my grown, soulful heart needed. Picture this: a crisp evening filled with deep house grooves, old school classics, and a crowd that knew how to move with intention. From the day I heard about this event I tuned into my favorite Louie Vega songs and solidified that I was going to see him perform live.

Closer to the night of the performance, no one was available to go with me and I had to bring out my social butterfly skills and fly solo. …

Worthy – Book Review

Hello, I come back…

Let me start here, I did watch Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk with her husband, and I still read the book. In fact, I only watched it because all the loved ones I mentioned to that I was reading the book eluded to that conversation and urged me to watch it. I did, and Jada also spoke about what really happened in that video, in front and behind the scenes. Seeing that video actually made for an even more interesting read. Now that that’s out the way, let’s review her book, Worthy.

Breaking Free from Expectations

Most of the …

Tems – Born In the Wild South Africa

My first introduction to Tems was in 2020 through Wizkid’s song Essence, the first time I heard that song I obssessed over it for years. Still in 2025, that song is one of the best songs ever. After that I followed this golden girls beautiful voice. Fast forward to 2025, Tems is a Grammy Award winner and she opened her “Born in the Wild” tour in South Africa.

Setting the Scene

The 20th March finally came, perfectly positioned the day before a public holiday. This was the first concert I attended at The Dome in Nasrec. This Dome looked nothing like a dome or …

All I Can Say Is… Thank You 2024

Can you believe we are here… The end of 2024, just yesterday I was writing about the end of 2023. I was talking to my colleague today after the show about 2024 and it helped me take a step back and reflect on the year and unlike last year, this year’s milestones were more internal than external. I’ve had to learn to find novelty and a sense of accomplishment internally. Life forced me to. Unlike last year, there were no award nominations or anything like that. Just lots and lots of reflections on who I am outside of the external “achievements”. Here’s what else came …

Msaki’s Camagu In Symphony

I am such a lucky girl when it comes to performances. I really am. On Thursday night, the SunBet Arena was pulsating with the heartbeat of South African music, with Msaki’s music to be specific. She gathered all her friends and gave us a spectacle and a half.

Camagu

Camagu is a Xhosa term that means to bless, appease, praise, honor, or let it be. The naming of the concert gave us an indication of what’s to come. Msaki’s “Camagu in Symphony: 10 Years of Gratitude” wasn’t just a concert; it was a transcendent experience. We sang, we cried and we danced all …

Valdo Bubbly Run

On my bucket list of fun things to do… A bubbly run. I saw a lady on TikTok who ran a full marathon while drinking beer and champagne on the way, baby girl looked like she was having the time of her life. When I saw the ad for the Valdo Bubbly Run, after missing it last year, I knew this was an affair I’d be part. Who to go with? A friend that I’ve been meaning to catch up with over mimosa’s, who’s also a runner so it’ll be a fun activity for both of us.

28 November, Randpark Golf Club transformed into a …

I ran the Soweto Marathon, again…

Have you ever run 21km with period pains knocking? That was me this year. I was telling my bestie that I was not sure if it was a brave, or stupid idea. But yeah it happened.

I decided it was on at the beginning of October: I’ll be running the half marathon. For those who know me to have run the 42km, you’ll also know I’ll never run that distance at Soweto again. The teething problems there are not my portion, I have the battle scars to prove I’ve been there and done that. I digress…

My training consisted of running 100 km …
